An annual community programme that launched in 2017. The programme invites established artists from around the world to Khalifa University to collaborate with technology students in a series of summer workshops. These workshops introduce art to students majoring in topics as diverse as the study of aerospace and biomedical engineering. Many of them have an interest in art but have never had the opportunity to study it. The programme strives to bridge the gap between art and technology in their studies.
The Abu Dhabi Art Pavilion Prize was launched in 2017, inviting university students from across the United Arab Emirates to develop architectural proposals for a Pavilion. Each year, the winning design is realised at Abu Dhabi Art and seen by thousands of visitors to the fair. It is conceived as a temporary structure that remains during the week of the art fair at Manarat Al Saadiyat, with the potential to be re-purposed or re-located.
The first prize winner is awarded AED 10,00, and the second prize winner is awarded AED 5,000.
The Digital Competition was launched in 2020, inviting university students in Abu Dhabi to submit a proposal to enhance Abu Dhabi Art’s Digital Platform and improve a user’s experience of art and performances.
The winner is awarded AED 5,000.
Abu Dhabi Art Digital Competition winners:
2020-2021: Abdulrahman Al Marzooqi (Khalifa University) | Amany Saleh (Zayed University) | Fatima Al Romaithi (New York University Abu Dhabi)
