Shaikha Al Mazrou received her Masters in 2014 from the Chelsea College of Fine Art, University of the Arts, London where she was awarded the prestigious MFA Student Prize. Prior to that she studied at the College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah where she is currently a Sculpture Lecturer. Al-Mazrou’s group exhibitions include A Public Privacy, the inaugural edition of UAE Unlimited Arab Exploration, UAE (2015); 1°International Arezzo Biennial of Art, Italy (2013); 14th Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh (2010) and group shows at the Sharjah Art Museum, UAE and the Museum of Modern Art, Germany (2010). In 2014 Al-Mazrou was one of five international artists commissioned by the Arab Fund for Art & Culture to produce a public artwork in Dubai as part of their event ‘Make Art Possible’. From 2014 to 2015, Al-Mazrou participated in the groundbreaking group exhibition Past Forward, Contemporary Art from the Emirates, the first exhibition of Emirati Art to tour across the USA. Premiering in Washington, D.C. in May 2014, the exhibition continued to the Fowler Museum in UCLA, Los Angeles afterwards.
