Abdullah Al Shalty

Born into a modest family in the highland city of Abha, Asia Province, Saudi Arabia. Shalty was to move first to Riyadh where he gained a diploma from the Arts Institute of the Ministry of Education Youth Programme, his artistic talents being recognised at an early age. He then moved to al Khobar in Saudi’s Eastern Province and continued his studies between 1968 - 69, under the most important 20thC Iraqi artist, Shaker Hassan al Said. Returning to Abha, and having exhibited widely internationally, Shalty is now considered one of the most influential and important of Saudi Arabia’s modern generation of artists.
