Najat Makki

Dr. Najat Makki obtained her PHD in Metal coins from the College of Fine Arts in Cairo during 2001. She has worked as Head of Technical and Puppet Theatre in the Educational Devices Department of the Ministry of Education UAE. Dr. Makki has gained worldwide success and recognition both within and outside the Arab world as one of the foremost female Emirati contemporary painters. Makki adds mythological stories and historical reference to her. In her works, she is drawn with her favorite subjects such as women, folklore Henna, the sea, man and the desert. She uses colors (oil, water or gauche) and other materials in a dynamic and innovative manner. Her work is not only beautiful but has a deep sense to it. Makki’s art works are collected by several private and public institutions, departments and galleries in the UAE and around the world.
